Hi folks,
I'm working to bring my father-in-law's '97 Chaparral 1930 SS with Mercruiser 4.3 inboard/outboard back to life after a couple of years sitting idle. Looking in the engine compartment, I'm not sure if the bilge blower hoses are set up correctly. I'm looking for feedback from someone who knows weather this set-up is correct, or needs repair/modification. Description and pictures are below.
There are two vents on the stern of the boat. The left vent has two holes leading into the engine compartment (pic3205). Each hole has a 4" hose attached. The first is about 20" long and lays open-ended (pic 3206). The second hose is attached to a blower, and then extends down, hanging loose near the bottom of the bilge (pic 3207). The vent on the right side of the stern has one 4" hole, but nothing is attached.(pic3209)
Is this set-up correct?
I appreciate anyone's help, as I figure getting this right is an important safety factor.
Thanks,
Bill
