big smallmouth!

anyone else here fish Lake Erie for smallmouth?<br />normally we catch a bunch in the 10-12" range<br />(1-1/2lbs.)plus a few biggin's at 3-5lbs.<br />yesterday, we caught 15 and the smallest were<br />14"! had 3 in the 4-5lb range and my cuz lost<br />the biggest one I've seen in a long time. had<br />to be 6+lbs!<br />did we just get lucky, or are they bigger?<br />gorging themselves on Gobies maybe?<br />curious,<br />M.Y.

M.Y.<br />I spend quite a bit of time in the western basin, fishing for walleye. Often, if we drop lines too soon,(too shallow 12'-16') we hook into a few small mouths, the largerst one to date for us was about 20'' quite the fighter. But, normally they are 14''-16''. Keep in mind all hooked by mistake??
