Big power, alpha drive

Who here is running big power, 400+ hp, through an alpha drive and what have been people's experiences ?

They are rated for 300 hp. If you play easy with the throttle, it should last find. But that would sure defeat the purpose of going to 400hp wouldn't it. You play race boat with the throttle, and you will be replacing drives quite often.
Mercruiser used them with the 330hp 7.4's some time ago, and that only lasted for 2 years, then they invented the Bravo drive designed for the horse power.

Only person on here that I know of running serious HP (> 400) through an Alpha is WCA_Tim. He's done some serious cryo-treating, changed to the high-performance Alpha that they only made for a few years (I don't remember the name), etc. I think he trashed a couple over the last few years figuring out what he could get away with. Probably be a good idea to send him a PM, he knows what he's doing.
