Does Yamaha make a big foot for the Yamaha 4-stroke F-50 or F60? Is $6890.00 a reseanoble/fair price to pay a dealer for a Yamaha F-60?

Re: Big Foot on Yamaha???

Howdy Rabbit.
Yamaha makes a "High Thrust" version of the 4 stroke 50, which is the equivalent of the Merc "Bigfoot".

Those engines are meant for heavy, slow boats like pontoons or for kickers on big boats. The big gearcase is like a truck transmission. It keeps the engine in a lower gear than a normal gearcase.

If that price, $6850, is an out-the-door price (installed with all needed accessories, prop, etc. and tax) it sounds pretty good. If it is for the naked engine in the box it is too much.

Examples: New Suzuki DF70 naked $5995. Yamaha F115 out-the-door (new 2001 model with full warranty) $7700.

Red sky at night. . .
JB :)

J.B.
Where in the world do I get these good prices you are speaking of? The price I was quoted of $6890 did not include changing out the control box, cable, prop, the labor and p/u and delivery. So, I am looking at $7365 plus labor for a 2002 F-60? How do I get a better deal? Where would I get a Yammy 115 for the price you quoted? Any guidance you can give, I appreciate very much. Thanks.

Howdy JR. The $7700 out the door price on the F115 was quoted to an acquaintance by a Yammy dealer in Wilmington, NC.

You need to shop the net to find some of the best deals. Some of the best prices I have seen are right here on iboats.

There are some terrific prices on 4 stroke engines on ebay right now, too.

Good luck.

Red sky at night. . .
JB :)

Mercury uses 4-stroke Yamaha engines. That gives you some choice when looking for engines. (and Evinrude/Johnson use Suzuki 4-strokes)

Re: Big Foot on Yamaha???

Thanks J.B and Capn Mike! I've done some more research on pricing and came across a possible good deal (3-year warranty) on a 2000 Yamaha F-80 (store sample). Anybody got any experience with their performance or service records? Besides having about 20 more HP than the F-60 is there anything really different I should be concerned about?

For a Yamaha in the crate, check with Central Florida Yamaha. No prop, no cables, no controls 115 was $7300.00 unless that has changed. Talk with Mary. I hope to get one myself if I can come up with the funds.
