Big Bore Looper Carb Question

Guys,

I have a 99 Johnson 225 Looper (PXEEN). I was wondering what the difference was between "big bore" carbs and the other was. What carbs should a 225 have on them? Would a set of big bore looper carbs be appropriate for the above motor. I saw a set of stock carbs for a great price...would like to know if they'll work.

Thanks,
Duke1

If I have other than big bore carbs and put them on...with I have to do anything else..and will I see any difference.

Re: Big Bore Looper Carb Question

There are many versions of V6 looper carbs. And several versions of airboxes. Just depends on where you're at (rpm & speed-wise) and what you're looking for.

Re: Big Bore Looper Carb Question

The motor turns 6K as it should at WOT. I was just wondering what "stock" was for this motor and if a big bore carb was appropriate or if it would make any difference.

Thanks,

Re: Big Bore Looper Carb Question

It all depends on what you're trying to do and what hull you have. Sometimes putting big carbs on just burns more fuel. If you have a performance hull that responds to small changes then you might see some additional top end. General rule of thumb - big carbs have better top end, smaller throats have better acceleration. There are lots of ways to get more out of those motors as long as you have a hull that responds.
