Big Boat Hole shot

We just repowered our Formula 25 PC. The old engine was a 260 H.P. Mercruiser 350 With alpha drive. When we repowered we got on an from mercury remanufacturing. MPI 383 it has 325 H.P. and 390lbs of tourque at the prop. Since the prop was still good we put it on the new bravo one drive. The prop is SST with 19pitch. When I hit the gas the boat jumps to 4000rpm and the boat slow comes out of the. Then from here thr rpm increases to 5100 maxing me out at 40 mph. Also the boat ways about 6000-6300. Once on plane though the prop seems perfect I can go 22 at 3500 28-30 at 4000 35 at 4500 and 38-40 at 5000. The boats on plane performance is amazing but getting out of the hole seems a little slow. But since Have not driven another boat like this is the slow hole shot to be expected.

What is SLOW? Can you give it in seconds? Use a watch.
Are you sure of the weight? Have you had the boat weighed?

I was just out on the boat I didn't time it i'm guessing about 7 - 8 secs. The catalog for the boat says Dry weight without the engine is 4550lbs with the engine about 5550 and my friend and I altogether 6000lbs I have a video here it is http://s229.photobucket.com/albums/ee264/baconbiscut/?action=view&current=Boattrip025-1.flv

That is a base weight - no gear, no fuel, no water, no food, no drinks. etc.....

You are closer to 7k than 6k.

after watching your video, it didn't seem out of line. Couple of questions, was the drive trimmed all the way in at take off? Is the boat equiped with trim tabs?

FYI Formula 260BR has a tested time to plane of 4.8 seconds. I know this is not a direct comparison with a cruiser, but this boat had a similar base weight of 5450lbs. It also had the benifit of a big block driving through a DuoProp.

yes and yes and no. The has trim tabs but the motor isn't working. I pulled the trim tab motor today and i'll be sending it to the bennett trimtab people and I'll have them working by next weekend
