WoW! thats a great catch. I hope it gets <br />recognized as a world record. Although it sounds<br />like it may have some trouble.

I agree that they might get a hard time. Shame because the story is on the up and up, lots of witness's and even a video.

OMG...   them are giants! I guess fish get a great big belly when they get fat just like people. Imagine what Iaconelli will do if he caught one of those. He'll probably break dance till he break his arms. :D I agreed that it won't get accepted for world record for the simple fact that it wasn't a certified scale or any mention of the fish length, girth measurement. Wonder how much I can gets a plane ticket for from Indy to San Diego?

I suspect the rental fees on the boats there is a wee might higher today and the hotels are probably full. :D 70 ac lake and you know she is in there, you would stand a better chance of landing a world record there than anywhere I know of.

It is a shame, but it doesn't sound like he really cares about the record.<br />
Whatever happens, Mac Weakley no doubt will become the poster boy for catch and release and, refreshingly, he's all right with that, even if he doesn't break the record or make a dime.<br /><br />"Would I be disappointed? Not at all," said Weakley, who is a supervisor at a casino in Oceanside. "I feel I'm very blessed; everything I care about is family and friends. I really don't care about money.<br /><br />"To tell you the truth, I have a good job and I do all right, and I really don't give a (second thought) about it at all. We're more happy just to see that there is a 25-pound bass still living and in this lake."
I would have done it differently, but then I would be more concerned about the record. And why? Not really sure, guess we all want to be #1. He is A#1 in my book, and he doesn't need the record for that!<br /><br />Congrats Mac Weakley, for a job well done.

Re: Big bass,, World record???

What's going on with this kind of stuff??<br />That fish should not be considered for a world record. <br /> Somebody gets DQ'd for a lifejacket or kill switch violation in a $100k tourny we have here every year. (Tourny is annual and the DQ'ing is annual as well).<br /> This is the second or third time I've seen world record claims in the last few years. The source is has been an angler or somebody that was with an angler that already had several records. Or are already way up on that list of top fish.<br /> The point is: These guys/girls KNOW the ropes. They know the proceedures. They have done it more than once before. (They have DONE THE RECORD THING CORRECTLY BEFORE, More than ONCE). <br /><br /> It's nothing but another fish story now.<br />My gosh that's a monster and one heckofa fish.....If it doesn't make the record books, one might think, "What a shame...."<br /> But, Considering this guys background, it's not even that.<br /> It'd be different if it was somebody that just didn't know any better. It would be easy to see how they might make a mistake in following a few easy guidelines.<br />Then it'd be "a shame".

Actually, it wouldn't have count. California rules stated that a legally caught fish have to be hook inside the mouth. Unintentional or not, foul hook is illegal.
