Looks like Maryland is jumping to the Big 10, as well as Rutgers. Good move for them and the Conference? What do you think?

I think this is all getting a little ridiculous how teams can jump from one conference to another...... There's been a mass exodus amongst conferences the last year or two........

All part of the PLAN, my friends. Their ship may not be sinking yet, but they spotted one that looks a bit more seaworthy. Big storm coming in.

For the Big 10, it allows expansion of the Big Ten Network into New York and New Jersey with mucho beaucoup bucks. But the main thing is keeping up with the move to six 16-team super-conferences which by now is as inevitable as death and taxes. You want to be sure you have a chair when the music stops. Look for the SEC to do a little raiding of their own on the Big East and ACC in the near future.

agree that the ultimate plan is 16 teams so I guess it makes sense to lock up the big TV markets before some other conference does. That said - something about playing MD or Rutgers that just doesnt get me too excited!

Re: Big 14?

Even with six - sixteen team conferences there will still be some one complaining about the rankings. In 2014 there will be a four team playoff that will run until 2025 and the layout is that in order to be one of the four teams in the playoff the team will have to have won its conference...so what two teams ( conferences ) will be left out...???
