I am replacing the water pump impeller on a BF75L 7.5 hp 4 stroke Honda and cannot figure out how the shift linkage gets disconnected so that I can service the impeller. The lower unit drops down about 2 inches with the bolts removed and the shifter in reverse, but I cannot see how to drop the linkage. Anyone with experience on this one, Help is appreciated.

Someone on this board will probably help you, but this is the point where you should go to the bottom of the page and buy a manual for your engine. Every engine is a little different and to go into these engines without a manual is not wise.

You will need to unscrew the shift clevis at the top of the shiftshaft under your engine cover. We can make this really easy labor wise with several parts removed, but you are going to have to remember how this all fit together,or you can use the awkward ,hamhanded approach that we all try first.Which will it be?
