I have bf75 that is giving me some trouble. When its cold. It runs perfectly fine. But when the engine have been running for a 15 mins continuously (max speed 4800rpm), it will then slow down by itself slowly to 3000 rpm ( as if i was losing power or running low on gas). Dont matter what i do now, it will not max out the speed anymore. Any idea what is wrong with it?

1998 Honda 75hp.

also i would like to mention. This motor is really heavy for my boat. so i see the 2 exhaust hole (the one 2 inch under the cover) sometime in the water. I believe the water can get into it. Is that a problem?

Any help will be great! thanks

Are you getting an alarm? Do you Have an alarm system? Honda side mount controler has one built in. Alarm mode...high temp or low oil pressure will limit rpm to 2500. Need more info...

Yes i do have an alarm system. It turns on whenever the water pump is not getting enough water when i'm in the kelp bed. But the oil light is always green.

Last week, i was running at 4800rpm at rough water. I hopped over and wave and hit the water hard. The engine then slows down automatically to 3000rpm.
I idle it and try to gain up the speed again. It will sputter and die. Sometimes i have play with the choke switch to get up to 3000 rpm then it will not go any higher.

Thank you replying.. I need serious help!

Hi,
asuming your engine as the carburettor version please also confirm your inline fuel filter it probably shows a fuel starvation symptom
