I have a BF75 which sat for about a year and now will not spark. I did some tests with my multimeter and the coil has infinite resistance through the spark plug leads. From what i understand this means the coil is dead. However, i cannot locate a new coil. Does anyone have any ideas on how i can get this thing running?
Thanks

Re: BF75 ignition coil

I have a '96 BF90 and I believe these have two 'coils'. One for each two cylinders. Have you tried testing all the plugs to see if any throw a spark? My GUESS is that your problem has something to do with a corroded connector somewhere from sitting. ...or a fuse, or a fuse connection, or something that delivers juice from the battery to the coil(s).

Re: BF75 ignition coil

Thanks for the reply Chuck...

...but this is an older motor, a pull-start 7.5 hp. I should have clarified that in my first post. I have checked for spark and didn't get any out of either plug. It seems strange to me too the coil could go bad just from sitting, but there is no corrosion and all of the connections are solid. Any other ideas on where the problem could be?

Thanks
