Hello everyone,
I have a 2001 Honda BF50A1LRTC outboard motor with remote control power trim/tilt unit that won’t start. I have been operating this motor for about 13 years with no problems before. Last weekend, the engine was running at the dock, then I turned off the engine for about 30 minutes, went to turn it on again, and nothing happened … no sound from the starter, no cranking sounds … nothing. I followed all the troubleshooting instructions: checked for adequate fuel and fuel line connections, checked all the wiring connections for visible loose connections, checked that the shift lever was in neutral and the emergency stop clip was properly inserted, checked that the battery was charged, and checked the 15A fuse. There were no problems with any of these. I have a wiring diagram for my outboard and think that the problem must be somewhere between the remote control box and starter motor. Any troubleshooting tips you may be able to provide would be very much appreciated. Thanks.
Steve
