Hi guys,

Looking for a new engine with tiller handle for my boat and the power range would be 50hp-90hp, mostly for quiet cruising so the lowest range will do.

I have enquired for the price of BF50 and BF60 and the difference between them is huge, about £2000.00

When asking what justifies the difference I have been told the BF60 is a completely different (from all other Honda engines) animal, kind of “one of” that was developed on purpose. Everything is completely different so the price is out of the range as well. No explanations were given about any particular magic stuff that the 60hp has over the 50hp.

Do anyone has experience with this BF60 engine and can share the opinion on it? I basically can swallow the price tag but want to be sure I have something seriously good when you buy a 60hp for almost £9K.

Any thoughts?

If you don't need the extra power they're making with all of the fancy up to date electronics and mechanical wizardry, why pay for it? Quite honestly, the fuel injected 50's introduce al lot of unnecessary complexity as compared to the carbed engines, and the carbed engines run REALLY well!

I mess with dead 40-50 Hondas a bunch, and honestly, I'd MUCH rather be working on a carbed engine for the relative simplicity.
