Just bought a BF50 50 4 stroke outboard and moved to my 19 Foot Polor Kraft Aluminum boat. I also added a tach guage for the first time.
FIrst question. the serial is BAZS-3704721, What year is this?
2nd, I am at 4000 RPM at WOT with prop of 11.4X12. I know the engine should be 5500-6000 RPM WOT. So I either need to re-prop or when I installed my Tach I set to the wrong setting. I could not find the correct tach setting for BF50 so set to number 4 that the BF45 used. Is this correct? If so I need to re-prop. Any idea what pitch I need to go with? If the setting on the Tach is wrong what is the corrent setting?
FYI I was getting 27MPH on slight chop as she sits.

Thanks

Looks like you've given the frame serial number for a BF50AKO... need a number that looks like BF50LRTA or similar to work out the year

With current tach, what's your rpm idle reading ? Could have a badly, a badly adjusted tach or a prop with spun hub underway...

Not giving sea rider a hard time, if the hub is about to go, then they usually just go then rev their head off. When the hub went on my stainless prop it over revved like crazy and a real bad burning rubber smell. Bralos appears to be concerned about under revving not over revving.

Bralos do you have a photo of the serial number?
