I have a 2000 BF40AYLRTA. I need to replace the bottom carb which is part number 16102-ZW3-D23. I have been looking at some that are the same number except for the ZW3 is a ZW4. Does the ZW4 make any difference? Will it work on mine without any problems?

Yes it will make a big difference. The last 3 numbers usually indicate different versions of the same/similar part, middle 3 indicate an engine family. The top two carburetors are identical, the bottom one is different. Also there is pre EPA and EPA controlled carbs. You will need the exact part number to get the right one. You will also need a vacuum mate or a set of carburetor synchronizing gauges properly set them after replace the carb.

Thank you for your help. I do know that the top two are the same and the bottom one is different. I will be ordering the new carb I guess but was wandering how do I know what main jet it will have? I noticed in the parts diagram that they have three options for the main jet. I will also be rebuilding the other two and I am concerned about having different main jets.

you're probably trying to order something online? The Honda parts look up program at a dealer has outlines the different models and serial numbers for each part. if you give a regular dealer your serial number they can make sure to get you the right one

The main Jets have number stamped on them to make sure that they're all the same
