I've got what I believe is a 2004 bf40 with tilt trim on the console.
Its been a great motor but yesterday I noticed that the trim position I choose slowly was lost. Then I started watching it and it seems like it went down in little steps. I'm mechanically inclined and should be able to rebuild it myself but wanted to have all of the parts on hand first to minimize downtime.
Any suggestions on what the root cause is? I'm thinking main piston/plunger seal as it's not position dependant. But then I started wondering how the pump is sealed and thought it could be a source of backflow of the oil.
Any guidance would be appreciated
Thanks
Jon
Ps my serial number is Bays 3402201
It's a showa unit and appears to be rebuildable.
