After engine heats up steam starts coming from top exhaust port. Just replaced impeller that was missing 2 blades. Found some pieces in thermostat, Tell-tale and behind water Jacket cover. Blew air through tell-tell, thermostat opening and through bottom water tube. also water from hose through same areas. Oil Compression check was in spec. It steams alot more after coming off plane after a long run. then after idleing it lessen's. Is this normal? What could be the issue?

We are not there to see what you are seeing , but in general steam back there is normal. Also, generally when you back off plane you not only get some steam but also a nice dribble of water. After you are all warmed up and running nicely feel around the exhaust housing near the water line.If it is way hot we have a problem. Why the impeller failure? Remember when flushing this unit YOU MUST cover the water pickup under the cavitation plate!

Thanks Hondon. I'll try feeling around the cavitation plate today. Not sure on the impeller failure. I just bought the motor and it appears that the impeller was never serviced. I did some service on the motor(fluid changes, spark plug replacement and water pump). I'll try covering the pick-up as I was unaware that needed to be done. Any other service I should do on this motor? Thanks again, John

Also, When I did the engine flush I had the lower end removed. Covering the water tube until pressure was great and then releasing it with air going through thermostat hole. Doing the reverse of that also.
