bf40 been sitting long time

I just bought a pontoon with a 2000 BF40 on it.It has been sitting since 2001 and only has about 100 hours on it.At least thats what the old owner said. i only paid 500 for the whole set up but really don't have that much more to put into it. I'm not exactly sure what i need to do to get the motor back to running condition but the cheaper the better.Any help would be great.

Hi, need to know a bit more info to possibly assist you with this.

It sounds as though you haven't attempted to start this engine yet. Is that the case?? As a bare minimum, i'd recommend changing all fuel filters, engine oil, gear case oil and maybe even the impeller as if its sat that long it may have dry-rotted some.

Check the plugs for gap and condition. If the carbs had any gas in them when it was parked in 2001, you will more than likely have to have them removed and thouroughly cleaned and adjusted properly.
