I run a Honda BF15 fourstroke (short shaft)on my 12.5' Achilles inflatable. According to Achilles that should work fine. Unfortunately, the motor cavitates as I near full throttle, so I have to back off. has anyone experienced similar problems. I'm running a 3-blade 91/2 x 85/8 prop. Any thoughts?

kent miller,

Inflatables can do weird things to water flow around a prop. Is your Achilles a soft or hard bottom?

Typically, infatables run best with the engine trimmed all the way down. (Innermost setting on the trim pin.)

Ditto, DJohns.

I think what you are getting is prop ventilation from too much trim-out.

Good luck. :)

Re: BF15 cavitating

Thank you for the info - my inflatable has aluminum floorboards - which I install. after i install the floorboards I inflate the keel - which creates a v-shape. I will try changing the Trim setting again - I currently have it one up from the lowest setting. Doesn't seem to want plane very well all the way down. Maybe I shouldn't inflate the keel. Would a Hydro-foil on the motor help? I bought some lifters which I am going to try.

Thanks for the help - I appreciate it.
