According to an article I read in a boating magazine, the only difference between the BF150 and the BF135 is that the BF135 doesn’t have the ground wire hooked up to the VTEC spool valve and the ECU mapping to control the variable valve timing.

Would it be possible to hook up the ground wire to the VTEC spool valve and have the ECU re-mapped to control the variable valve timing?

Re: BF135 to BF150 ?

I recently purchased the HONDA shop manual for the BF150/BF135 and in it I found that the BF135 has a different rocker arm, rocker arm assembly and intake rocker arm shaft than the BF150. I believe this proves that the BF135 does not have the variable valve timing mechanism installed as the writer in the above artical suggests. Here are photos of the parts in question:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v235/perrycl/Picture005_edited.jpg

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v235/perrycl/Picture004_edited.jpg

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v235/perrycl/Picture006_edited.jpg

It is still a mytery why Honda lists the weights of both motors as exactly the same. I would think that the BF135 would weigh a few pounds less without the VVT and its associated parts.

Interesting info. Don't confuse the lack of replies with lack of interest.
