BF135 prop shaft and seals

can anyone tell me how to get the housing infront of the prop off? the one with 2 bolts that go into the lower unit. i took the bolts out and i can pull it out about half and inch and then it gets stuck. i used a block of wood and a little hammer lovin' but it didnt want to come and i didnt want to break anything. any advice?

I'm assuming you want to remove the propeller shaft holder from the housing. If so, theres a little more to it than the 2 bolts. First, the water pump and shift rod MUST be removed. To do this, the lower unit has to come off. After that, you should be able to use 2 good sized screw drivers at a couple recessed notches by the 2 bolts and pry it out of the housing. There is a o-ring on the inner end of the propeller holder assembly also.

The reason its not coming out for you now is because the shift rod engages a piece at the inner end of the lower unit when assembled and is holding it in place. Any force on it may bend, break or damage it and thats not advised.

thats what i needed, thanks a bunch. I got the lower unit off last night... I will pull that housing and rod this weekend. hopefully i didnt mess it up already.
