BF130 Tach

Had the boat in the shop for a new impeller. Tach was not working asked them to check it. Said I need a new one. Do I need a tachometer from Honda or can I use an aftermarket tach like Faria or Teleflex? Motor is 2001, efi without ecm.

Honda...Just tried two aftermarket tachs and both burned out after a couple of minutes. I think we retail the Honda tachs for $69.99 so they shouldn't really be anymore than the cheap crap...Usually the cheap crap manufacturer's actually make the OEM tachs too. Just a different standard as the OEM ones are not trying to fit everyhing at once.

Appreciate the reply Tohatsu Guru! When you said "we" you are suggesting I can purchase the tach here thru iboats? Found this link for the gauge with a white face. Was hoping to get it in black for better night vision without reflection from the white face.

That's an aftermarket, works on anything...But not very well, tach. I would suggest a trip to ye local Honda dealer or you can order one from Paul, myself or any other Honda dealer in the US.

Paul is Pvanv on iboats and is a dealer up in Yankeeland.
