That gear oil should be fine if it is Honda marine gear oil.However if you are running an old electric shift ,this gear oil will not do.In general marine gear oil is enginneered to emulsify a certain amount of water when it becomes contaminated.All the name brand gearoils will do fine with your engine,but be carefull of the synthetics like Merc hp or Duraplus.They work great if you want to continue the expense of useing them,but they are not supposed to be mixed with their petroleum based cousins.
