Hi guys,

Ok. Its service time. I'm looking to do an Oil Change and water pump. Its very difficult for me to get my boat to the dealer, so I'm thinking about doing it myself. Should I avoid this?

Thanks!

Get a manual for the water pump service. Oil and gearlube changes are easy enough.

hello
what willy says. also in the manual is the service schedule. and if you buy a parts manual you can call a dealer and UPS delivers.
the only problem I ever have with do it your self service is to much of it gets skipped from lack of knowledge, commonsense or the attitude that is working now dont mess with it.so get a manual study it hard and ask questions before starting. I dont work on many Hondas I used to in Norfolk but here there are not many.

If you plan on keeping the motor, get the shop manual direct from Honda - about $90. Otherwise, you can get a Clymer for around $30. But with the Clymer, the latest year covered is 1999 and you'll have to skim through all the other HP sections to get to the 130 in each chapter.

About the impeller. The drive shaft is LONG. So anticipate that before you drop the lower unit. I'm guessing, but would estimate it's about 20" long.
