Hi I just bought a bf 100 second hand. IT has excelent compression and was used on a trailable yacht. Long story short after flushing the engine, in the lower gear case unit between the two gear case oil screws there is a small whole and water comes out of there when flushing. When the water is turned of some gearcase oil leaks this is not much maybe a tablespoon. When I spin the prop more comes out but not much. Should I be worried.

your motor should not be leaking gear case oil...
if oil can leak out ,then water is getting in
as well
is the oil clear or milky and brownish in color ?

Re: BF100 oil leak from gearcase

Man this seems to be a common problem with these engines as i have one too. No one seems to know the answer to the question for sure. I just bought mine and the guy showed me a receipt and it had just come from the shop and had a full tune up and inspection on it. Is it possible this oil is from filling and spilling on the engine. as my oil level has not dropped or turned milky in anyway in both gear case and motor case. As i say mine has slowed down allot since i left the motor on the Boat and none of the oils seems to be going down or turning milky.
