Up until the other night I had a nice original condition 5hp Sea flyer on the back of my little 12 foot aluminum boat.
When I got up for work the next day my motor was gone along with my trolling motor and life vests right out of my front yard.
I am really sick about this because I live out in the "sticks" and this just doesn't happen here.
I need to know if these numbers would be consistant with a Sea flyer motor.
The Model # is 64-180
The serial number is 376602.
I am not sure if these are the right numbers and I need them for the police report.
These numbers were written on a small piece of paper with the word Sea on it.
I will probably never see this motor again but I am not giving up without a fight.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Sad story. I can't help with the model number, but your post brings up the point that everyone should have all those serial numbers written down somewhere. Thefts from boats are common everywhere, I'm afraid.

I also engrave my driver's license number on stuff like outboards and other small items. That unique number makes identifying stolen items really easy. Don't use your SS#, though.

On a happier note, there won't be many of those engines around your area, I'm sure, so that will help. If one shows up, it's probably yours.

Watch the local flea markets and eBay for your motor.

Re: bf goodrich Sea Flyer

thanks for the reply. I have already written down all the numbers off my other 30 motors. Phew!
I have been loking for another Sea Flyer like the one that was stolen and they care very rare so I am hoping these idiots show up at one of the local lakes or advertise in one of the local papers or mags. I have contacted all the marinas and repair shops alrerady but only time will tell.

Good luck to you in recovering your classic outboard. Be sure to tell the cops how rare this motor is. I doubt that there is another one in your area. If one shows up, it's probably yours.
