BF 15 Balance Shaft alignment.

Just wondering if anyone knows how to correctly set the position of the 2 counter weight or balance shafts on a 1995 model 15hp honda?

Most parts of that sort have marks that are used to line up the teeth.Usually a dot or a line.Something like you find on a cam and crank.

Thanks for the reply. There is a dot on each of the balance shafts but the crankshaft has what appear to be dots put there by someone else and not by Honda. These are lined up but the reason I ask is that it has what I think is a bad vibration. Not having anything to compare it to means I am a little in the dark. The motor will make the boat vibrate when it is up in the revs so much that it makes it rattle. Is that normal for a 1995 model 15hp Honda?

I have a Solec Manual which is mostly good for writing notes on or wiping my hand with. It was an absolute waste of money

I have 2 1989 intertec manuals that cover many brands and don't even mention Honda.
I'll assume this is a twin and the pistons operate in unison (up and down together)Logic says the balance shafts spin to dampen the piston movement.Thus they would be oposite the movement of the pistons.When the pistons are at TDC the balance shafts would be down away from the pistons.I guess your next best bet would be to get a Honda manual.

No, that is not normal. I run about a 1993 Honda 15 and it runs smooth as can be.
