Re: Best way to change oil on my 19888 Malibu Skiier?
Well we have taken the new boat out two times and it has ran great. We did notice that the oil was overfilled by about a quart so i was just going to change the oil anyways on it. Does overfilling it hurt the motor or seals? What is the best way to change oil on these? It looks real tight. Someone said you can get an oil extracter that you stick down the dipstick tube? Where can i get them?
Howdy,
Sorry someone hasn't jumped right on this!
By "new" boat what do you mean? Did you just buy it? If it's overfull it's possible that it wasn't "level" when someone added the last qt. OTOH, you may have water in the bottom of the pan.....if that's the case, it might be "bad".
If you use a vacuum pump, your dipstick tube should have threads on it such that you can connect a hose to it and suction all the oil out.
If not, you can use a tube that will go inside the dipstick tube but that's going to make getting it all out a LONG process.
most of the marine supply places will have a vacuum pump of some sort that you can buy and it will come with hoses and fittings that you should be able to connect to the dipstick tube.
