I'm looking to purchase a used ($2-4000) fish & ski boat but i'm not sure what to look for or stay away from. I need something like a bowrider for the family outings but also something i can pop a front seat in with a trolling motor for fishing. Anybody have any suggestions on what to get or what to look for? I dont think a troller will work on your standard "bayliner" type bowriders...right? As you can see, i'm a bit in the dark about this and would appreciate any advice. Thanx in advance.

Your price range is a problem, Hook. There are some great boats made in the late 70s and early 80s for fish 'n' ski, but good ones will cost you 4 to 8 grand. In your situation, I would find a bowrider you like and install a seat base up front and an adaptor ("false" transom) up front to use a hand control troller. Good Luck
