You are going to get as many different answers to this question as there are magazines... Go to a shop, have a browse through a few and pick the one that suits your interests the closest...

Better yet search here on I-boats for information on where you wish to go boating. My findings on the magazines are they are just full of advertising. I find much more usefull information right here on this forum thru its many different venues than I have found thru three years of magazine subscriptions. My two cents anyway............

Re: Best trailer boat magazine?

With the demise of "Trailer Boats Magazine" last year, there are NO mags dedicated to trailer boats. They were bought out by "Boating", which is fair to poor. Expect to see stories on non-trailerable yachts as well. All the other mags are strictly yacht oriented.

Boating magazine is the only one I've found that is close.

With the internet, seems like there is little use for boating magazines anymore.

I mostly agree, but I have to say there's something about getting a periodical (especially in print) with pretty pictures and articles you can look forward to reading. I still get Boating & generally like it, but you're right, most of the info in there I can just as easily find online. Still there's something about a magazine I still very much enjoy. Sometimes it's even the colorful ads, believe it or not.

I used to love getting magazines. I now get zero magazines delivered anymore. The only magazine I would actually consider is the Economist but my GF gets that so I read hers.

I've gotten Boating on and off for years and they've gravitated toward larger boats that Minnesotans don't/can't use on our lakes. Not as many small boats as there once was.

You gotta have something to read in the bathroom, on airplanes, waiting at the doctor's office, etc. They aren't what they used to be but its all we have.

I have to agree with AIRSHOT and the rest of you. I have learned more from this site than I could have imagined. I owe you all many thanks for my boating education.:) I only have a computer in my shop (not one at home) and I run in every chance I get to read more.

Re: Best trailer boat magazine?

I put boating magazines right up there with hunting magazines and fishing magazines. Useless for any real info. They are instead full of advertising used to make you think you need some piece of new fangled gear. I also find many of the articles to be based on experiences of the very rich and of little to no value for the average Joe.

Bill

Oh and add rc magazines to that category as well.

I take it you haven't flown lately. You can keep tablets on.

Ha Ha, yep I flew the first day, the first airline, adopted the rule. The flight attendants kept telling us to turn them off over the PA at the usual times then would recant out of habit. Every time I fly, you feel like you are breaking a rule and are going to get yelled at. Of course nobody actually puts their tablet or phone into airplane mode as directed. Now between the cell connection on my tablet and the fact wifi is available over 10,000 feet, you are almost never out of touch which is a double edge sword.
