Good afternoon! My boat is a 1974 Starcraft 24' aluminum cruiser, weights about 4000 pounds loaded, has a 198 hp mercruiser engine spinning a old 17p aluminum prop. I get 38 mph wide open and 4150 rpms (max is 4200 on this engine). I'm considering making the switch to stainless, I enjoy top end speed and use the boat mostly for cruising and pulling a tube. Out of all the brands and models of stainless props, which would you recommend for top end speed and general proformance? I know Merc has a number of models, and I'm a bit lost most of them. Thanks for your time and advice!

i hear the Powertech RED3 is good. I would think your RPM might drop a little going to stainless

I've had the best luck with Solas HR-Titan 3 blade SS. It gives me the best holeshot while still managing to give me a higher top speed than any other prop I tried.

With the HR-Titan 19p 3-blade on on my boat, I am able to get 51mph trimmed out, no easy feat for a boat that weighs over 4500lbs with just me. With 9 people I was still able to get 48mph.

I highly recommend it, although you would need the 17p obviously.

Oh and price, it's about $300 here on iboats.

Get the one with the coolest name. I like Rapture, but Stiletto is nice too. Seriously, figure out if you need bow lift or stern lift, and choose one accordingly.
