Where are some GOOD places to fish in Southern California? I've been to Castaic lake, and Lake Pyramid, and a few others like Casitas and Cachuma. I NEVER catch anything though. I dont believe i'm a "bad" angler considering how well I do when i'm fishing reds or trout on the St. Johns river in Florida or in the marshes in south Louisiana. Maybe my strategy is wrong. Or my BAIT is WRONG! Any lake suggestions or fishing tips for this area?

Castaic Lake is one of the best waters for big bass in the US. You should consider a 1/2 day guided outing that will help increase your success rate. Guides are great and not overly expensive. You will learn about bait selection, live or artificial, presentation options. Also, locations and times to fish, along the shore, weed beds, structure, land points and such. Your enjoyment and success will increase, but you must do the work. Get out there often and you will catch fish.

You can also spent some time at Bass Pro in the fishing Dept. Those guys are also very helpful, and love to talk fishing.

Good luck, and Happy New Year!
