Depends on what your main priority will be.. If it is to fish go with a Nitro or Triton.. If it is to pleasure boat, ski, pull tubes and have a lot of people on board go with a Tahoe or Glastron on some sort of pleasure boat that can be fished out of....I have a Tahoe F/S and if you are gonna be doing a whole lot of fishing out of it you will hate it... Occasional fishing you will be fine..Same with the Nitro or Triton.. If you are gonna want to be tubing, wake boarding, or knee boarding most of the time you will not like those as much... They are set up to fish 1st and pleasure 2nd.. Both kind are great just depends on what you 1st needs are...

The best one is the one you own.

no, the best one is the one your friend owns, if he lets you use it!

The best fish/ski combo IMO is a center console. That's what lots of people--those who know boats--use around here for general use.

Got to be able to handle the rough water where I fish, so that dictates boat style in my opinion.

I personally like the aluminum fish/ski models much better than the glass models. To me the glass ones tend to just look like a ski boat someone slapped a trolling motor on :p

Or a bass boat with a ski pylon.

I was just in the same situation. We were looking for a new boat that does both. But we fish more than tube so we went to the marina and checked out a few boats. We ended up ordering a 2010 Crestliner super hawk 1700. It is mainly a fishing boat but you can add the ski pylon and the front deck converts to a bowrider design. You can add a full padded sundeck up front that is removable and you can add a swim platform and many other options including a fold down back bench seat.

Re: Best Ski/fish Boat

I'm going on my 3rd season with a Four Winns H203 Ski & Fish model. It's been a great boat for both fishing and watersports/cruising. The Volvo 225 hp does a nice job of pulling skiers and tubes, etc. Good storage and floor space, too.

I'll take it out early to fish and have the family meet me at noon to spend the afternoon on the water. It only takes about :15 to fully convert from fish to ski mode. It's a heavy boat and could use more than the 56lb. thrust trolling motor it came with, but that would require jumping up to 24 v's and an extra battery. Not a huge issue...

I don't know if Four Winns is making the H203 in 2010, but there are still 09's out there. They also have a H180 that is slightly shorter, but similar.

Enjoy and good luck!

My new fishing/skiing/hunting/all around family boat

And my old fishing boat ...

The old one was much easier to fish for bass and striped bass out of, and I loved it, but the new one is much more family friendly and a much better all around boat ... now my wife WANTS to go out on the lake with me.

Re: Best Ski/fish Boat

Ranger Boats has an extensive line of what they call Fish & Play boats in the Reata Series They are not inexpensive, but they have the amenities that the serious fisherman needs with the niceties that the family demands. Mine has two fishfinders, two livewells, 24V trolling motor, built in dual bank charger, hydraulic steering, storage for nine rods, and for the family, seating for 6 in the cockpit, built in ice chest, snap-in carpet, bowrider cushions, stereo, bimini top, swim ladder, ski pylon, etc. Mine has a larger cockpit and a smaller rear platform, but there are many layouts to chose from. Plus all composite no wood construction. Very nice boats.

THAT is a nice boat Jevery. That's a great example of a glass boat with all the stuff I like about the aluminum fish/skis.

the best fish & ski boat would be one owned by a topless dancer who's father owns the marina and her mom owns the liquor store!
just my opinion!

Godfrey Marine's Hurricane boat line has a good selection of dual fish/ski boats with live wells and fishing chairs as well as the required ski tow pylons, etc.
