Hello, I've recently purchased a Rapid-O Marine long block with the cam upgrade. I would also like to add a new intake manifold, 600 cfm carb, and a new sets of manifolds. I know boats perform at a lower RPM range and was looking for advice on a manifold from someone with experiece on a similar remanufactured engine. What is my best bang for the buck; Edelbrock, Weiand, or Holley? Also, what finish would work best in my fresh water boat? I've been told to look into the Performer or Air Gap by Edelbrock but am open to hear other opinions.

Also, i'm willing to listen to your opinions on aftermarket replacement manifolds and a carb. I've heard the Edelbrock has a lot more parts, can be adjusted for midrange which can provide better fuel economy, and is cheaper. On the other hand i've heard the Holley is much easier to work on but is basically intended for WOT use. I will be using the boat recreationaly tubing, skiing, and cruising!

Thanks!

Is it a vortec motor?
What kind of cam upgrade? (lift and centerline) Did you upgrade the springs too?

Weiand stealth good low end and plenty of top end.

It's an 87'-95' non-vortec long block. I've got the specifics of the cam written down at work and not currently next to me. I'm looking at the Edelbrock Air Gap #2604 at the moment and the Holley carb.

Does anyone have any experience with the Brodix HV-1016? It is a few dollars cheaper than the Air Gap and operates from 3,000-6,500 RPM.

"More muscle where it counts. Brodix's single 4-barrel, dual-plane intake manifolds give you a real performance boost in the mid-rpm range, where pulling power is important. In addition, they're significantly lower in overall height than many other manifolds, which can really help in applications where underhood height is a problem."
