My boat is a 17.5' Browning Mustang II. Any suggestions on what size prop would be optimal? I cruise and occasionally pull a tube or skier. Also what all brand props will fit my boat? Thanks Scott

I moved your post to here and you should read the "sticky" posts about props.

If you read the prop stickys and get us as much info as possible we can tell if your setup is working and maybe if a change is in order.

Back in those days, I ran a 13+dia and 17P OMC SST stainless prop on a similar boat. Similar hp (derated to fit your later year rating numbers). Had stellar results with boat full of family and water toys behind. Ran out top end at 39 but on one occasion, at a company picnic was able to get 5 skiers up and kept them up for a couple hundred yards; wasn't boats fault, skiers fault. Could have fun with 6 member family and a pair of doubles with the kids, or me at 250 slalom at 35 mph.

Want more,
ask,

Actually i don't have a lot of info on the prop or performance of the boat for that matter. Just got it and im working on the boat getting it ready for summer. The prop is a little warn on the edges and small chips. Thinking i wanted to replace it and just looking for advice on what i should get. Thanks

Unfortunately prop selection isn't as simple as picking a size. Its very specific too the boat, typical load and usual activities.
Most times it is a compromise.with a prop that keeps the motor within its rated rpm range for most activities.
Its important for the health of the motor and best performance to have the right prop.
If you look on your prop you should find numbers under the prop nut.Prop size is written _ _ X _ _ (diameter X pitch).
Pitch is the key number. If a prop is intended for your boat the diameter will be right.
Chances are your present prop will work.Unfortunately the previous owner may have put just any prop on to save a good prop for him or her self. Thats why the need for base line performance numbers.with your existing prop.
It may be cost effective to have a prop shop repair your prop and get the performance numbers if a change is in order you can sell the prop or keep for a spare.
You may end up with a 17" or 19" prop.If you get us the present size we can estimate
If it seems right.
