we are also new boaters, just got ours in Nov and out for the 1st time in Apr. We boat out of Middle River. last week did our 1st overnight...went to Rock Hall and got a slip at Haven Harbour. From Middle River was only about 45 minutes out on Fri and about an hour returning on Sat. Wind and waves were heavier, so took it slow.

Great marina, free bikes, town only about 1 mile away. we walked it. bar and good food right on premises. also nice pool, picnic area, volleyball, teatherball, private heads w/showers. all in all, a very nice facility and the folks there were great, both the staff as well as the members that we met.

we will be going back!:)

Sounds like a nice Marina, I stay at Riverside we don't have all of that. But I guess you get what you pay for.

Hey,
I'm in Essex too and just put my boat in the water at Riverwatch. First time in two years since its been in the water since living in Havre de Grace and I put her in today. Most likely headed out to Heart-Miller on Sunday. Anyway just wanted to drop a line and introduce myself and check into where everyone around here hangs out.

haven harbour, rock hall...i'm sure I could not afford to keep my boat there as a member. for one night, i got a slip for $52. beats the heck out of hotel rates and a nice place to be for a day or two.

I have the wonderful benefit of keeping my boat at a friend's lift on Galloway Creek. The cost is just right. His boat is out for repair, probably for most of this season. I don't mind sharing mine since he is sharing his house and lift.

Being new boaters, we are also on the lookout for cool places to go. We found another one, The Wild Duck, Frog Mortar Creek, Middle River area. Good food, tiki bar, and often live music. Careful heading in, there is a 6 mph limit that is really enforced on weekends and holidays.

I've also been through the cut between Hart-Miller islands and it looked like there were places to stop there, but I have not done done so. Curious to see if that can become a regular destination.

is there anything up Back River to Essex worth visiting?

Hey Anton, your boat isn't the Kozak Skij by chance is it? Anyway as far as boating up Back River I like Middle River much better as I think Back River seems much more industrial looking. As far as Hart-Miller goes I really enjoy it there, they have compost bathrooms there if you really need them, but what I really like about there is they have camp sites with picnic tables and fire rings with attached grills. The sites closer to the bathrooms and the lookout tower are bigger with a wide beach in front of them which is really good for throwing a ball around, volley ball, etc, where the sites that are down a bit don't have much beach front, but you can anchor really close to the site there and the sites are more private. I want to do a weekend sometime soon camping out.

Hey guys,

We're in Middle River also. We're out almost every Saturday and Sunday... usually at Hart-Miller Island. Depending on the conditions, we sometimes anchor up by the airport or near our own marina in Sue Creek. We'd be interested in meeting up if anything gets planned. We're fairly new to the area.

I usually just wing it as to what I'm doing, and I just moved down here as well from Havre de Grace so I'm learning the local waters as well. I really do like to hang out there though with the drills and tables, but I am also interested in doing some restaurant hopping via the water locally
