I'm tinkering with the idea of winterizing my boat by myself this year. However, I've read threads on where the drain plugs are on different motors but I can only find one on mine at the top of the motor where the thermostat is. I am having a difficult time believing there are not more. So, I thought I'd break down and purchase either an online manual or a hard copy manual that will walk me through the process. What is your recommendation and where should I get it?

If you know off the top of your head, how many drain plugs should I have? I've forced as much of my body as possible inside my engine compartment, run my hands everywhere that I've read about and where I've found them on different boats, up and down the risers etc and can ONLY find the one at the top of the motor. I do feel what feel like maybe metal plugs that would need to be removed with maybe an allen wrench but nothing like the blue plastic plugs that I'm used to seeing. Thanks

It depends if you have the seven or one point drain system. Do you know your engine serial number? Are you closed or open cooling?

Edit: forgot to answer your original question. You can order if from Mercruiser customer service or go to your local dealer, cost should be the same

I can get the serial number tonight AD. Thank you. I'll head over to Mercruiser and see what I can find. As always, I appreciate your time and input.

I just watched a video on it via youtube. It looks like that's probably the system I have as that's where my blue plug is and I have the "knob" on top of the engine that the guy in the video turns. I see it's gotten pretty poor reviews as a drainage system for getting all the water out. So, for this year, I will probably let the pro's do it. If they screw it up they'll fix it for me!
