Best location for my Transducer

I'm new to fishing - just purchased the Lowrence HDS5 and looking for advice on the best location to mount the tansponder on my Key West 1720CC........
Seems like it should be on the transom......not too close to the Engine......any advice?

Mine is in line with the drain hole for the engine spashwell.works pretty good.
