In-Fisherman, but you didn't indicate if you were speciallizing in one freshwater species.

For fresh water it would be In-fisherman with as a very close second Field And Stream (for the north east)
Salt water is more area dependent with On The Water the best for New England

Guess it depends on what you fish for, and where.

My favorites are Esox Anglerand Musky Hunter.

Have to say Musky Hunter is what i read first. But all around fishn mags its In-Fisherman.

Sorry my bad. I didnt specify what type of fish.
I will be fishing Largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, sand bass (up river), striped bass, catfish, and crappie and i live in TEXAS. In-Fisherman, i was told, was more of a northern states fishing magazine. I have no Walleyes, pike or muskie to catch here that i know of in my local lakes. I will fish lakes and the rivers that enter them.

Get a copy of In Fisherman and make your own judgement.

I live in Texas, too, and In Fisherman has become much more of a nationwide mag than when it was an upper Midwest mag.

My favorites are based on my annual week on Lake Of The Woods, Ontario, but for local fishing I would prefer In Fisherman.

I think it is a style thing as well as a species thing. In Fisherman approaches fishing like scientists while many others, in my view, approach fishing like NASCAR approaches driving.

I have looked in a couple of the In-Fisherman magazines and they are very in depth about fishing techniques and tactics. I just didnt know if i was missing or leaving out a brand of magazine that i needed to look at. Im going with In-Fisherman.

I always liked Bassin', but In Fisherman is good as well.

Bassmaster is full of ads and wasted space, not worth buying IMO.

Despite the ads, bassmaster probably will give you the most bang for your buck for bass, however the in fisherman publishes several species specific mags and one is dedicated to cats called the catfish insider. check out the bassmaster website for some articles and videos also
