Maybe instead of 1000 Islands I will go to one of the finger lakes and spend some time. What do you prefer?? Thanks

Re: Best Finger lake to go boating??

We boat on Canandaigua lake quite often, although not this year because so far the weather sucks! Good boating, good fishing, good swimming. Have also boated on Seneca, Cayuga, and Keuka which are all nice lakes as well. Conesus and Honeoye lakes are great for fishing but there are no real spots to anchor to swim, unless you just anchor in 20 feet of water and jump in.
There is also several other finger lakes but I have not had the opportunity to venture there yet.

I spent a week on Cayuga Lake in 2006. The lake was very nice but I was somewhat disappointed that the water was so rough so we had a hard time with watersports. I suppose the water was rough due to the wind and the other lakes may have the same issue.

I have my boat on Cayuga and I will tell you that all of the large fingerlakes point North to South and are choppy most of the time unless there is no wind

Keuka Lake hands down. Perfect mix of size and crowd, very clean water.

Conesus, Keuka, and Canidagua are georgeous. Canidagua will give you the most room to enjoy. Also look into the "ring of fire" tonight (July 4th). all the cotteges have fires all the way around. Quite a site to see. :D Enjoy the weekend
