Getting ready to do the final clean on my boat before she goes to sleep for a couple months. In the past I would polish some of the spots that had a slight oxidation in the blue gel coat and finish with collinite fleetwax. Wondering if there is something better out there to use? Currently the boat is wet slipped from April to October and I do pull it out mid season to was and apply another coat of wax

For years, I used Collinite 920 cleaner followed by two coats of 885 Fleetwax.

Was given samples o Smoove Bubble Gum Micro polish polymer to try. I liked the end result and ease of application but the durability didn't match that of Fleetwax.

Now use bubble gum instead of the 920 cleaner followed with two coats 885 Fleetwax

better than collinite...... no.

the white boats use collinite, however they have a crew of 20 somethings that start at the bow, polishing, buffing, waxing everything and sanding the teak. when they get to the stern, they start over.

Maybe I might need to step up my mid season waxing. Goal is to not have to compound out any oxidation at the end of the season

You have BLUE GELCOAT???? I had a beautiful 27' Regal with blue gelcoat.First let me state that I will NEVER EVER own a boat with colored gelcoat again. My Regal was beautiful and it was a lot of work keeping the blue gelcoat beautiful.I had a very good system that did not include any compounding at all.Reason being every time you use compound ,your pads are blue. They are blue because you are removing micro coats of the blue gelcoat.I used Starbrite polish (blue bottle) and a rotary wheel.Followed by a coat of carnauba wax, any brand. Followed by 2 coats of Formula 303 which goes on like Armor-all.Would do Starbrite and 303 midseason and repeat the longer process upon winterization. the key things that made the color last is that I would put 2 coats of the polish ,one on top of the other without removing for winterizing and covering entire hull with shrink-wrap.So polish stayed on from Oct thru April and gelcoat stayed out of the sun as well. I was constantly complimented .As previously stated ,I will never own a colored gelcoat boat again. Waaaayyyy too much work.Charlie

Long time ago I had a red boat and that was a lost cause. I swore I would never get a red boat again. Guess next boat will be white
