I painted my boat with West Marine Bottom Pro with Igarol last August...3 coats ... more than I ever did in NY. I had some barnacles after 9 months. I used my boat (22 Pursuit) at least once a week to keep the bottom clean. I'm going to paint it again with a different ablative...any success with other brands? Thanks, Alan

We've got warm water around here bro; the warmer the water, the more aggresive the marine growth. I have an interlux product on mine but I haul out; my boat never stays in the water more than a week at a stretch.

I don't have first hand experience but have heard a lot of good about the Interlux ACT. It's an ablative bottom coating. The Igarol falls short at shell fouling. You need a bottom coating that has cuprous oxide in it to control the shell fouling. That's not saying that you don't also need the Igarol, because that is what controls weed, slime, and algae.
