Best battery - starting and audio power

Hi there,

I have a 1980 115 Inline 6 and running an audio deck with four 6X9 speakers. Often have the stereo running without the engine running...

I had a 24 series Interstate Marine/RV cranking battery but it appears be dead. Any advice on the best battery option? I am currentely considering the Optima Blue top 34. (MCA:870 , AH:55, RC:120) Will it do the trick?

Also, if my old battery only has 550 MCA will the engine start any easier have 870 MCA?

Always replace a battery with the same value or higher; which you seem to want to do. You should be able to run the radio for a handful of hours without worry.

I am not positive but I do not think this will really make a difference. If anything it is good to have a higher ca value if you intend to run the battery while the engine is not on; to ensure there is enough juice left to turn the engine.
