Bent trim tab

Went out on the boat today and noticed it was hard to keep straight. I beached it at John Lloyd park and checked it for damage. Sure enough the starboard trim tab is bent to **** . I guess the fork lift driver got a little aggresive with it yesterday aft he took it off of the work rack and put it back into storage.

Any suggestions on how to correct this problem? Is this something I can do myself with a soft or rubber mallet and maybe some heat? Or should I just replace it?

Re: Bent trim tab

First person I would approach is the forklift operator.

Trim tabs are stainless, you will have to detach it and hammer on it with a substantial mallet or ball peen hammer. Take the stainless piece to a metal shop and have a new stainless one made.

We have an excellant sheet metal shop here that can do it.

Bob

Re: Bent trim tab

Thanks. I spoke to the Marina this morning and informed them of this problem. They have agreed to fix it at their expense. They agreed it was their fault.

Also noticed today, that no only is the trim tab bent but there is some damage to the gel coat as well. I expect they will fix this also.
