bennit trim tab leaking throw transom

I have bennit trim tabs on a 89 searay 250 da and when I use one of the tabs the oil pores out of the hole that feeds the tab. what do I do next

Fix it . . . There is usually a right angle fitting that feeds into the top of the cylinder. If the trim tabs are original, then they may need replacement. It would be best to check the fitting for obvious things and work from there

thanks tpenfield , the oil is coming out of the transom hole. there is a hard line 2" long from the ram threw the transom to a 90 fitting. it looks like the oil is coming out of the hole pretty fast. I tried to post a vid but cant convert from mvi. I can send it if that helps

It sounds like there is a leak where the pipe nipple threads into the upper hinge of the actuator (ram).

You can try tightening the pipe nipple (remove the tubing first), but this often does not work, strips the threads or blocks the fluid path.

The best way to fix it is to replace the top part of the actuator and the pipe nipple. We can send you those parts at no charge, just send me your name and address in a private message.

To make sure we send the correct parts please confirm that there is about 1" of exposed piston shaft when the Trim Tabs are fully retracted (see the drawing below).
