Just recently had a problem with my newly purchased boat having a constantly fraying belt, and come to find out that the original owner of the boat broke the tensioner when changing the belt, so he put a smaller belt on the engine. I have had a new tensioner installed with the proper belt, and it solved the problem. However, now I have a slight squeeking coming from the belt, and or pulleys. Its not loud just enough to hear it over the engine also, I noticed that it is very minimal when I apply pressure down on the power steering pump. Any suggestions? Tighten the belt? Loosen the belt?
