I thought my water pump was shot due to the lack of tell tale/(pee) water flow coming from engine. Bought the new pump and before I removed the lower unit I decided to remove the hose from the water jacket to the back of the engine. Well, long story short, there was a clog in that hose preventing the water from flowing properly. I cleaned the hose and it pees like a champ. Hope this helps others before engaging in an unnecessary task.
