At one point in time not very long ago I had all the bearings in SX-M drives and DP-SM drives written down, by that I mean the SKH, TOYO, etc. numbers. Some how in my ever advancing age I can't find my list so I'm looking for the Manufacturers # for VP part # 11044 or 3854482 That would be # 2 in the exploded vie of the prop shaft & bearing housing, Thanks

I saw that yesterday and that's what screwed me up. That would make it the same bearing as bearing in pic below(by the way I found my exploded parts view) and the part #'s are not the same. I think that's the biggest problem with the drive I took apart yesterday. Thanks for the reply
On a side note, I don't know if anyone else uses bearing #'s instead of VP part #'s but it can save a bunch of dollars, as we all know VP parts are pricey

Have not ordered a bearing or seal by a third party designation in over 40 years…

Quite often you’ll find a better solution than OEM used in the assembly

On my merc alpha I tore it down and got the numbers off the bearings and races. Some merc bearings were similar price to the same SKF or Timken bearing from a bearing house, some were x2 price.

I still don’t understand why the u joints are so expensive. My alpha gen 2 uses GKN ujoints, when you trace out the GKN u joints I found they crossed over to GKN U110 which was used OEM on every RWD Volvo back in the day 240, 740, and 940 Volvos used this same ujoint, which u can buy for $12 … I bought the spicer version for like $40 each.
