Hello,<br /><br /> I am rebuilding my 1976 OMC hi-pro electric shift lower, and the verticle drive shaft has to be shimed. If you can feel the bearings rolling against the races and takes about 15-20 in lbs (just a guess) to turn the shaft. Does this mean it is over shimed? This is with the smallest available shim. Should I not use a shim if its that tight? Any help would be appreciated. The drive is for a 245hp V-8. This is for my friends boat and have to get it right.
