I need some feedback. I just replaced bearings and races on my trailer. I threw a bunch of marine bearing grease in there and pumped up the bearing buddies. Problem is, I didn't really "repack" the bearings very well. I smeared some grease over them so they wouldn't be dry but for some reason my thinking was telling me that the pressure from the bearing buddies would sort of pack the bearings just fine. I just need to know if I should pull everything back apart and press some grease in the bearings real good before taking off on a 200mi trip in a couple of day???

Hi Doug, welcome to iboats!!

Yep, pull it down and repack them little suckers properly. Put a big glob of grease into the palm of your hand, hold the bearing on a slight angle and 'push' it into the grease. The aim is to see grease coming out the other side. If you don't like the idea of getting covered in grease, buy yourself a repacker - I'm sure wallyworld would have them.

Aldo

The front bearing gets grease immediately when you pump a Bearing Buddy. It takes time for BBs to fully fill the hub cavity and pressurize grease (instead of air) to the rear bearing. To make sure the rear bearing is protected from day one hand pack the hub full too. BBs work best at topping off the hub and pressurizing, not filling. Air pressure will keep the BB springs out and make it look like the rear seal is getting grease but it isn't. Over time the air leaks out and pressure is gradually lost, which can let water in. Grease stays in without pressure and keeps water out. BB instructions say to pack the hub too.

Bearing Buddies Don't Pack Bearings,... At All,... Period ............
They're Not built to do it,+ Don't Do It........

At this point,.... You've Still got Dry Bearings in your wheels.........

The ONLY Purpose for Bearing Buddies is to hold Postive Pressure in the hub to hold water Out........... That's It......

Again,........
Bearing Buddies Do Not ,+ Will Not Pack the Bearings,........... Period...........
